Answers to the most frequently asked questions about our convenient new service
We're here to care for your sick child during week nights and weekends when your regular pediatrician is not available.
Our goal is to offer top-quality, convenient medical care when your child has a "can't wait" condition. It's a new concept for this area, so here are answers to some of the questions you may have.
When are we open? Monday through Friday 6pm to 10pm; Saturday & Sunday Noon to 5 pm
What medical services do we provide? Our staff of pediatricians is trained to care for infants and children up to age 18. We offer:
What about prescriptions? Our doctors can write drug prescriptions. Plus, we plan to have on hand the most often needed pharmaceuticals. That way we can give you the pills or Rx your child needs and you won't need to stop by a drug store on the way home.
What services do we not provide? Anything that can wait "until tomorrow" should be treated by your regular doctor. Thus, we don't offer: Physical exams; Immunizations.
How do we work with your regular doctor? The next day after we've treated your child, we will fax to your primary pediatrician a medical form indicating what symptoms we observed and the treatments we performed...so your child's medical record is complete. Follow-up treatment for the care we provide is generally handled by your own pediatrician.
How are our services paid for? Personal check and charge card payments are accepted. Also, we accept most health plans. Please ask about your plan when you check in with our receptionist.

The Background on Pediatric After Hours
This new service is a joint venture between many of the county's leading pediatricians and the Southern Maryland Health System. Our objective is to provide a friendly, responsive place to take your child for immediate care "after hours"...while avoiding the hassles of a hospital emergency room.
